The showstoppers

Every drop has a handful of models that make you stop and look twice. This one has more than its share.

The headliner is the All Nippon Airways Boeing 747-100SR "Snoopy" from JC Wings in 1:200. It is one of those liveries that defined an era of Japanese domestic flying, and at 1:200 the detail on the classic jumbo really has room to breathe.

Right alongside it is the Qatar Airways Boeing 777-300ER in "Formula 1" colors, a JC Wings 1:200 that is about as bold as a widebody gets. For the supersonic shelf, the Air France Concorde arrives in 1:400 from JC Wings, a clean rendition of the airframe no collection feels complete without.

Two more from JC Wings round out the special-livery group: the SpaceX Boeing 737-800 in 1:200, a great conversation piece for the aerospace crowd, and the British Airways ATR72-200 "Chelsea Rose", a turboprop in a livery you do not see modeled often.

GeminiJets: 1:400 classics and 1:200 flagships

GeminiJets came in deep this time, across both of its core scales.

In 1:400, the highlight for vintage fans is a pair of Boeing 727-100s: BWIA (British West Indies) in its polished 1960s delivery scheme, and Mexicana in the "Azteca de Oro" livery with a polished belly. Classic tri-jets that reward the collectors who chase older airframes. Modern metal landed too, including the Lufthansa Airbus A340-600, the United Boeing 767-300ER, the Hawaiian Airbus A321neo, the Air North Boeing 737-800, and the JSX ATR 42-600.

In 1:200, this is a strong run of current fleets. The Qantas Boeing 787-9 in its "Yam Dreaming" art livery and the Philippine Airlines Airbus A350-1000 in "85 Years" colors anchor the widebody side, with the Alaska Boeing 787-9 and Hawaiian Airbus A330-200 close behind. JC Wings: premium castings in 1:200 and 1:400

Beyond the special liveries above, JC Wings filled out the lineup with collector favorites. In 1:200, the United Boeing 737-900ER is a clean modern mainline narrowbody. In 1:400, classic widebody fans get two McDonnell Douglas MD-11s: Alitalia and the Japan Airlines "J-Bird", plus the Aeromexico Boeing 777-200ER in polished metal, which catches light like nothing else on a shelf.

One for the general aviation shelf

Not everything that flies is a jet. The KLM Aeroclub Cessna 172P arrives in 1:72 from Gemini’s general aviation line, a larger scale that shows off the little Skyhawk in real detail. A nice change of pace next to the airliners.

No airline is more bound to the Boeing 747 than Pan American World Airways, which launched the type into scheduled service in January 1970 and named every aircraft a "Clipper" after its flying-boat ancestors. Liquid Metal, Whale Sharks, and a Round-the-World 747: The New SQ Wings 1:200 Releases

Pre-orders are now open on one of the most eye-catching SQ Wings 1:200 waves in a while, from STARLUX's mirror-finish A350s to the full Japan Transocean whale-shark trio.

There are pre-order waves you skim, and there are pre-order waves you stop and stare at. This one is firmly in the second camp. SQ Wings has just opened reservations on a broad run of 1:200 scale models spanning nine aircraft and some of the most talked-about liveries flying today. At 1:200, these are display pieces with real presence on the shelf (a 747 runs around 35cm nose to tail), and several of them are about as far from a plain house livery as a paint shop can get.

STARLUX A350-1000: Hajime Sorayama's Flying Sculptures

If you follow special liveries at all, you already know these two. STARLUX partnered with Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama, famous for his hyperrealistic chrome and robot imagery, to wrap a pair of Airbus A350-1000s in a mirror-bright metallic finish the airline calls AIRSORAYAMA. The result is a liquid-metal look that took special coatings developed with Airbus and paint specialist Mankiewicz to pull off on a carbon-fibre fuselage.

There are two jets in the set, designed to be seen as a pair: AIRSORAYAMA Silver (B-58553) and AIRSORAYAMA Gold (B-58554). Both are offered in standard and Flaps Down configurations, so you can build the matched pair or pose them mid-approach. On a model, that chrome-effect finish is exactly the kind of thing 1:200 was made to show off.

Japan Transocean Air: The Complete Jinbei Whale-Shark Trio

Few liveries are as beloved as Japan Transocean Air's Jinbei jets, the whale-shark schemes the JAL subsidiary has run since 2012 in partnership with Okinawa's Churaumi Aquarium (jinbeizame is Japanese for whale shark). SQ Wings is releasing all three current 737-800s, which means you can finally line the whole family up on one shelf:

The original blue Jinbei Jet (JA05RK), the pink Sakura Jimbei (JA06RK) with its baby whale shark tucked underneath, and the newest of the set, the green Yui Jinbei (JA07RK), which only entered service in January 2026. The Yui Jinbei's emerald scheme is inspired by Okinawa's seas and the UNESCO-listed Yanbaru and Iriomote forests. Each is available in standard and Flaps Down.

Lufthansa Cargo B747-200F: A Round-the-World Classic

This one is a treat for the freighter and classic-jumbo crowd. The Lufthansa Cargo Boeing 747-200F (D-ABZF) wears the famous 'Service Revolution' scheme, the paint job that listed thirteen destinations between Cologne and Cologne to mark Lufthansa Cargo's first scheduled trip around the world. The real aircraft was delivered in 1986 and is long retired, which makes a proper 1:200 rendition the best way to put one back on display.

It comes in three flavours: standard, Flaps Down, and an Interactive Series edition with the extra moving and posable detail that line is known for.

Malaysia Airlines A380: The Superjumbo, Twice Over

The Queen of the Skies' four-engine successor is here in force. SQ Wings is releasing two Malaysia Airlines A380 registrations, 9M-MNB and 9M-MNF, each in standard and Flaps Down. At 1:200 the A380 is a genuine statement piece, and Malaysia's blue-and-red wau-kite tail looks the part.

A Quick Word on Standard vs. Flaps Down

You will notice almost every model in this wave comes in two configurations. A standard model sits clean, as the aircraft looks in cruise. A Flaps Down model has the trailing-edge flaps extended, the way the jet is configured for takeoff and landing, which adds a lot of visual drama and detail to a static display. Many collectors like to own both, or pick Flaps Down for the centrepiece of a shelf. Neither is wrong; it comes down to how you like your aircraft to sit.

One of the more significant announcements in this release is the debut of a completely new A-6E Intruder tooling. The A-6E Intruder from VA-34 “Blue Blasters” (HC1001) and its companion KA-6D tanker variant from VA-35 “Black Panthers” aboard USS Nimitz (HC1002) carry the new HC-series SKU prefix — Hobby Master’s signal that this is a brand-new mould family.

For longtime Grumman collectors, the Intruder has been conspicuously absent from Hobby Master’s catalog. A-6E fans have largely had to rely on older Witty Wings or Hogan pieces. That changes now. With production runs of 700 each, these should be more accessible than some of the smaller runs in this batch, but new moulds consistently sell through faster than expected as collectors rush to own the first releases from a new tooling.

The HeadlinerF-14A Tomcat of VF-143 “Punkin Dogs”

The F-14A Tomcat BuNo 159434 of VF-143 “Punkin Dogs” (HA5263) is the kind of release that sells itself. VF-143 — nicknamed the “Punkin Dogs” (or “World Famous Pukin Dogs,” depending on which era’s patch you prefer) — flew from NAS Oceana beginning in the mid-1970s and later deployed on USS America. The 1976 livery captured here represents some of the earliest operational F-14s in a pre-TPS low-visibility scheme, complete with colorful squadron markings that collectors associate with the golden age of naval aviation.

Limited to 360 units worldwide, this one will move quickly. The F-14 remains one of the single most collected subjects in diecast aviation, and this particular unit and scheme hasn’t been produced by Hobby Master in over a decade.

The 1:48 scale releases honor two of the RAF’s top-scoring aces during the summer of 1941. The Spitfire Mk.Vb of Flight Lieutenant Eric Lock (HA7865), flying with No. 611 Squadron out of RAF Hornchurch, and the Spitfire Mk.Vb of Pilot Officer Donald E. Kingaby (HA7866) with No. 92 Squadron at RAF Biggin Hill are both significant historical subjects in their own right.

Eric Lock was one of the highest-scoring British aces of the Battle of Britain before his death in combat in August 1941. Donald Kingaby, often called “the 109 specialist” for his proficiency against the Bf 109, survived the war and continued flying into the 1950s. The 1:48 scale treatment does justice to the elliptical wing and lets the pad-printed markings and panel lines really shine.

The original release of this scheme is a regular feature in collector forum “grail” discussions, and the re-issue has been anticipated for years.

F6F-5P Photo-Reconnaissance Hellcat — HA0310

The F6F-5P photo-reconnaissance variant (135P of VF-84 “Wolf Gang” aboard USS Bunker Hill, August 1945) is the rarer airframe of the two — photo-recon Hellcats were produced in smaller numbers during the war and saw limited combat service in the Pacific. At 200 units, it’s not quite as constrained as the “Death & Destruction” re-issue, but it’s still firmly in “pre-order or miss out” territory.

The Lesser-Known Gems

A few releases in this batch deserve special attention because they cover subjects that rarely appear in diecast form:

The Beaufighter VIF of No. 405 (Lynx) Squadron, RCAF (HA2318) and Beaufighter TF Mk. X of 103 Tajeset, Israeli Air Force (HA2319) together tell two fascinating stories. The RCAF Lynx Squadron flew night-fighter Beaufighters over the UK in 1943, while the Israeli Beaufighter served in the 1948 War of Independence. Both are limited to just 300 units.

The Douglas A-1H Skyraider “The Proud American” (HA2922) represents one of the most storied individual Skyraider airframes of the Vietnam War — flown by the 1st Special Operations Squadron out of NKP Royal Thai Air Force Base in June 1972. The A-1H is a foundational subject for Vietnam-era collectors, and Hobby Master’s treatment at 500 units means it should be available, but not indefinitely.

The J-10CE Vigorous Dragon of the Pakistani Air Force “Cobras” squadron (HA9402) is particularly timely given recent interest in Chinese-exported fighter platforms. This is one of the first J-10CE models produced in the PAF livery, and Pakistani aviation collectors have been waiting for it.

A Note on Pre-Ordering

Hobby Master models are produced in strictly limited quantities. Unlike mass-produced toys, when the factory run is gone, it’s gone — the only option afterward is the secondary market, often at significant premiums. Given that several releases in this batch have production runs of 300 units or fewer (and one at just 80 units), pre-ordering is the most reliable way to guarantee your allocation.

The Campaign That Changed Aviation Forever

In 1965, Braniff International Airways did something no airline had ever attempted. Under the creative direction of advertising legend Mary Wells Lawrence, Braniff launched "The End of the Plain Plane" — a radical rebranding that painted its entire fleet in seven bold, solid colors. Orange. Turquoise. Blue. Lime green. Panagra green. Yellow. Beige. Overnight, the drab silver and white tubes of commercial aviation gave way to a fleet of flying jellybeans.

It was more than a marketing campaign — it was a cultural earthquake. Wells Lawrence didn't stop at the paint. She commissioned Alexander Girard to redesign the interiors, hired Emilio Pucci to create the flight attendant uniforms, and introduced the "air strip" — a theatrical boarding process where attendants would progressively remove layers of a Pucci-designed outfit during the flight. The whole program was so ahead of its time that it still influences airline branding six decades later.

The 60th Anniversary Series: End of the Plain Plane by InFlight200

To mark the 60th anniversary of this landmark moment in aviation history, InFlight200 partnered with Braniff International to produce the End of the Plain Plane (EOTPP) anniversary series. This third installment brings five Boeing 727 models in authentic jellybean liveries, each limited to an extremely small production run of just 120 units worldwide.

To put that number in perspective: a typical InFlight200 release might produce several hundred to over a thousand units. At 120 per model, these Braniff 727s represent one of the most limited InFlight200 production runs available to collectors today.
